10 things i love about Hong Kong

1) the people

HongKong-ers are SOOOOOOOOOO nice, helpful and warm... they see a lost tourist, they'll come to you politely, sincerely, "where do you want to go?" And they will help...
this hongkong lady.. as a boutique owner and fashioned me up.. recommended me clothes that would flatter my body shape... kept insisting "you are my mo-del" now imagine that sentence said in SUPER cantonese accent.. CUTE~~~

2) the food

CHEAP CHINESE FOOD!!! yeay! need i say more?OH! and they have VITASOY yeay!! i like sweetened soyabean milk~ they have really really expensive and NATURAL soyabean milk here.. sad...

3) the atmosphere

it really felt like a city to me... for the first time.. tall sky scrapers... you'd think you'd find this in Japan.. but no.. hardly any tall buildings in Japan... now in HongKong.. they're everywhere.. in Soho, CausewayBay, Admiralty...

4) almost everyone speaks english

granted.. it's cantonese/chinese english... it might be hard for westerners to follow because of the sing-song tune.. but I LOVE IT.. and it's not like Sing-lish which is to me disgusting.. but yeah its just rhythemic... hahaha

5) A lot of HAWT foreigner boys

hahahaha and they dont look like they have been deprived of sex either... in Japan most of them are pre-occupied with "kawaii" girls... or a bit creepy.. HongKong on the other hand... they are nice...

6) i feel like an attractive woman again

i get checked out by men again! YAY! the world is right side up again! seriously!

7) FASHION FASHION FASHION

a)they have sizes for all! it was nice to see a relatively large woman in a shop and an attendant servidng to her needs because they have her size and they genuinely want to help.. in Japan, if they don't have your size, they will not entertain you.. but they will humour you... with smiles and "irrashaimase" hahaha

b)the fashion sense is much more classy and stylish i believe... Japanese fashion i think, are more geared to "kawaii" which is good...but i'm going for "sexy" right now...

c)CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!!! man i bought this pair of pants for hk300 i think... and then yesterday i saw the SAME themed pants in a store for yen 7000... price doubled.. wooh..

d)HongKong has more international brands than Japan.... H&Ms, Marks and Spencers, Espirit.... yeay!

8) HongKong is ALIVE!!!

people actually talk in trains, buses, all methods of transport... and they dont care if they are loud.. its OKAY to talk to your friend.. its OKAY for your mobile phone to ring... its NORMAL... in Japan, if you were to talk to your friend on the train, or if your mobile phone were to ring, everyone just stares at you till you shut up...

9) pretty parks

loads of parks in the middle of the city, people actually go to the park to relax, unwind, pratice their taichi... go for walks, have fun, bond with their children...

10) Chinese Temples

you might think me weird for this.. but i like the smell of incense... I feel cleansed everytime i pray.. i'm sure the Japanese temples or shrines share the same concept... but they lack the atmosphere of the burning joystick, incense, paper, the red-gold-brown themed walls...

I LOVE HONGKONG

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

back to the real deal... what happened in HongKong exactly.. my friend(Cora) and I.. spent 4 days in HK... it was my first time going to country without an adult who already knew the place, without a native... so it was the two of us, with a lonely planet guidebook.. we stayed in a HOSTEL... A HOSTEL!!! i believe this is my first time staying in a hostel... and not just ANY hostel... we stayed in the infamous CHUNGKING mansions... Nathan Road..given, the room was okay.. but the surroundings.. GOD.. that was dingy as fuck... hookers, pimps, men selling fake merchandise, suspicious men lurking in dark alleys... ewwness... thank god i mastered the technique of dodging the ppl handing out flyers in japan... if not i'd probably be stopped by the men going "handbags and watches for you miss?"

besides that... i'm happy(?) to report that i've been mistaken for chinese by all the Hong Kong-ers... everytime the cashier talks to me.. I'm like "yeah what?" and they apologize and repeat in english... someone stopped me for the directiond for the toilet in cantonese.. and i pointed in the direction of the toilet... LOL... and i must say I UNDERSTAND most of the things... hahaha i was in a frangance and soaps shop (think lush and bodyshop) and the lady was struggling to explain to me her merchandise in english and i told her that i understood Chinese (in mandarin...wo ming bai) and it was like I released a gate for her... she couldnt stop explaining.. all in mandarin of course... all i could do was nod and oohh and ahhh and reply in proper english... HAHAHAH

what else? i could show you my merchandise... but first i would have to take photos... malas... but ill just state them... knitted long sleeved top, 2 long sleeved shirts from esprit, 2 skirts, a red bustier corset thingy, a long sleeved shirt, hot pink wide belt from H&Ms, black dress, long slacks, 2 thick belts, a turtle neck from a random boutique and last not but least, 2 pairs of shoes... HAHAHAHA i didnt think i bought a lot... i mean i wanted a pencil skirt.. but my dreams were horribly crushed when i realised that pencil skirts are not for my body shape... and then i want a HOT HOT red jacket... but i didnt find any red to fit my description...and i refrained from buying sunglasses... its freakking winter... and even though the shop had 50% off all brand sunglasses.. i practiced control... AHAHAHA regretting a teensy weensy bit but yeah... oh well...
more random pictures of hongkong.. you may wonder why i have a shit load of scenery pictures, but i prefer it that way... and i was busy taking loads of video....
